IPOH – Malaysia’s first ever animation theme park is set to open its doors to the public by the end of 2015.

The Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) would include a Dreamworks-dedicated zone, featuring characters from animated movies such as Mr Peabody and Sherman, The Croods, Megamind and Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the RM450mil (S$173 million) project, a joint venture between the Perak Corporation Bhd and Sanderson Group, would begin its development following the ground-breaking ceremony on Sunday.

“MAPS will be constructed at a 21ha piece of land at Meru Raya, near the North-South Expressway. We hope to attract 1.4 million visitors in the first year,” he said.
