If you have been whipped up into an angry frenzy by Google Glass, it’s probably best to look away now.

Supporters of the search giant’s glasses that can make phone calls, give you directions as you walk and record video believe it will revolutionise the wearable technology sector. Those on the other side of the divide ask how non-users will be affected, with Senator Joe Barton even sending a letter to Google to voice his concern at possible invasions of privacy. Now there is a new product for Mr Barton to worry about. Kapture is planning to release a wristband later this year that can record every sound around you, which you can then share with the world. The device is always on but can only store the last 60 seconds of sound. The makers see it as a way of preserving those moments in life that are difficult to capture.“There is currently no way to capture all of the quotable moments in life as they happen and in context,” Kapture states on its Facebook page. “Those words of wisdom from a mentor, epiphanies on a long drive, and all of the crazy things kids say. Many of these are moments you could never replace. Our wearable tech device allows you to capture, preserve and share quotable moments in life.”

The product also boasts filters to hone in on conversations and reduce background noise.

After it is recorded, the sound file is downloaded via Bluetooth to your smartphone, where it can be edited and shared on social media sites.

But while there will be those who argue that the wristband has the potential to invade people’s privacy, some are backing the idea by putting their money where their mouths are.

Kapture has already collected $300,000 in seed-stage financing, and is launching a Kickstarter campaign on September 3 to raise another $150,000.

Kapture co-founder Matthew Dooley wrote recently that “wearable tech has really come on to the scene recently thanks to the increased compatibility with smartphones and other electronics devices. It’s time to start taking notice.”

He will be hoping his wristband gets noticed for all the right reasons.
